Global Missions and Mercy at Calvin PCA
At Calvin PCA, our involvement in mission work is grounded in the truths of Psalm 113:3-4: From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised! The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
We sincerely desire to see God save people who do not yet know Him; and to be obedient to the great commission, to see God's Kingdom advance, to see lives changed and churches planted. But above all our desire is that God would be honored, praised, called upon, prayed to, submitted to, and delighted in where He is not now. We have committed ourselves to the missionary task so that all nations would recognize the glorious truth that the LORD is high above all.
To that end, we actively support missionaries in the United States, the Middle East, Austria, Bulgaria, India, France and Thailand. We are a partner church with the PCA missionary team in Bangkok, Thailand. More information on our partnership with them can be found below.
We also support and are actively involved in a number of mercy ministries. These ministries include The Crossroads Pregnancy Center, Operation Christmas Child, Light of Life homeless shelter, and our local food bank.
Thailand is home to 65 million people and the city of Bangkok (skyline pictured left) is home to 11.5 million. Yet throughout Thailand less than 1% of the people profess faith in Jesus.
Dependent on Christ’s authority, presence and power, the purpose of the MTW-Thailand church planting team is to be reestablishing the rule of Christ throughout the city of Bangkok and Thailand in all areas of life. Our commitment at Calvin PCA is to partner with MTW-Thailand in accomplishing this mission.
In 2007 we sent our first short-term mission team to Bangkok and this became the beginning of our partnership. As partners we have committed ourselves to support the team in numerous ways, including praying for them, sending laborers to work along side of them, and giving financially to their work.
