Dr. Faust - A modern retelling May 13, 15, and 16 at 8:00 PM at the Pitcairn Presbyterian Church, 3rd St. and Highland Avenue, Pitcairn, PA
The story of Dr. Faust originated in German folklore and has been retold in many different versions. The most important are those of Christopher Marlow (1564-1593), Johann von Goethe (1749-1832), and Dorothy Sayers (1893-1957). This is an original play by David Snoke (the world premier!), which draws on all three sources, but sets the story in the present day. The entire play is augmented by the music of Johnny Cash, who wrestled with many of the same themes of temptation, pain and redemption.
Tickets: $4 for adults, $3 for students, $15 for families.
