The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)
The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) was formed in 1973 to be a denomination that is “Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission.”
The PCA is an evangelical denomination in that we proclaim the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The word “evangelical” comes from the Greek word meaning “good news.” We desire all people to trust in the saving work of Jesus and enjoy eternal life in him.
The PCA is a reformed denomination in that we believe in the biblical truth proclaimed during the Protestant Reformation. The Word of God, rather than tradition, is the only guide for the Church. God alone saves through his immeasurable mercy and according to his sovereign plan. We believe the system of doctrine taught in the Bible is summarized well in the Westminster Confession of Faith with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.
The PCA is a Presbyterian denomination in that we have a representative form of church government. A local church is governed by a “Session” comprised of elders (i.e., “presbyters”) elected by the members of the congregation. Pastors and representatives of local churches in a region form a “Presbytery.” Representatives of Presbyteries and local churches meet annually at a “General Assembly.” -
Greystone Theological Institute
Greystone Theological Institute has been formed as an innovative and collaborative effort in theological edification in the mode of confessional Reformed catholicity. Greystone is deliberately different and deliberately rigorous, aiming for the long-term usefulness of faithful, effective theological service to the Church and world.
Experienced academics, professionals, and church leaders have crafted Greystone accordingly to combine the riches of the premodern approach to theological formation with the thoughtful use of the best contemporary tools.
Based in the region of western Pennsylvania, Greystone resources scholarship and ministerial formation at an advanced level at select satellite sites in the United States and internationally through a combination of regular intensive on-site as well as blended or online modules and events. In a variety of forms and contexts, Greystone seeks to enrich the mission of the Church in the tradition of confessional Reformed catholicity, foster theological collaboration, and share resources in order to advance learning; to strengthen teaching, learning and research; and to maximize the stewardship of scholarly resources for Church and academy. We warmly invite you to what is affectionately known as the Greystone way! -
Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary
Our mission is to educate students who love the Lord Jesus Christ and His word, equipping pastors for the ministry of the gospel and preparing others in the Church for effective service in His Kingdom, all within the framework of the historic Reformed faith. The founding purpose of RPTS has not changed in over 200 years.
Study under pastors who have served or are actively serving in churches. They faithfully preach the whole counsel of God’s word and shepherd the souls of our students. Our students and alumni have described them as pastoral, faithful, and trustworthy. Learn about how they serve the Kingdom of God.
Our commitment to the church & our students is that students will receive:
Theological Grounding—a commitment to biblical orthodoxy, as expressed in the Westminster Standards and the RP Testimony.
Devotional Piety—our professors are pastors, we offer daily chapel services, and we place stress on personal holiness.
Practical Training—students are not only taught but given experiences to preach, counsel, evangelize, and defend the faith.
